A Real Riot!

Integrity Toys has produced a number of Jem & The Hologram dolls (under license from Hasbro) this year. I did not watch the 80s comic TV series and consequently have no sentimental attachment to this line. But I cannot resist a boy dolly so when Rory “Riot” Llewelyn, lead singer of The Stingers, was revealed with decidedly chiseled features, I was all over him.

Riot arrived yesterday and with a little help from Chip work began immediately to bring him current. I knew in advance that his massive amount of hair would present a challenge but I tend to trust things will work out. And they did.

 Cheers!

  2. That Poof Power is just simply amazing! It's already worked its charm twice. Where would one find some of this Poof Power?

  4. I didn't know Jem before Integrity came around with the line and I thought (and still think) they look ridiculous. But then I also fervently hope the 80's don't come back from the dead. Except for the music maybe.
The Poof Power really worked magic, he looks yummy afterwards. Congrats on another fab boy doll. ;)

  6. Wow. I love how you have tamed Riot's hair. I mean he has a gorgeous face. The big hair worked for him, but he fits in better in Roville with the more classic hair style. (Oh and minus the Liberace-styled jacket ;-D)

Congrats on getting him! Thanks for sharing your transformation photos.

Chip seems like a nice guy. Really, really nice guy. Yay, Chip!

  8. I love this so much. I saw him and I really loved his face scuplt and screening but I couldnt stop laughing at how much puff to his hair he had (I also was not a jem girl so I dont have that nostalgia to it either) and decided to get him anyways because I figured I could get his hair tamed down and he looks so much better how you styled him XD

    1. What are you plans for his hair? Short/long/in between? I would have liked to have gone really short with him but there is so much hair I was afraid it would end up looking like a football helmet.

  9. You did a fantastic job saving him from himself. That hair, that suit...*shudders*. Now he has a kind of boyish/chisled look about him that makes him so much more appealing!

    1. aahahaha! What a shock for him - too funny! Once he gets his bearings he'll make an excellent Skwisgaar. Just hope he does it quickly and adjusts to those two lovelies being his daughters.

    1. Thanks, C. No offense to Gem fans, but Riot is more appealing in modern mode, imo. Haven't done much dollying this summer so need to make an effort and see what others have done in transforming their Riot.

  17. I missed this! So glad to see his potential because the look was not cute, but he's a very handsome doll. I remember the show as a kid and thinking the Stingers were vastly superior to Misfits and the Holograms, musically. So happy to see Riot. Beautiful work!
